EACF Champions Tournaments
26/27 September

The EACF Champions events are for players who have won internal club competitions at clubs in the EACF the previous season and are usually held at the start of the following season. This year the events were postponed until Sepetember and both the AC and GC events were held over a single weekend.

The AC event, held on Saturday, was managed by George Collin and had three separate blocks: Advanced (four players), B level Advanced and Handicap (six players each). Nick Mounfield (Letchworth) won the Advanced block with three wins, Wrest Park’s Bryan Harral being one of three players with one win. David Woolley was our representative in the B level Advanced block and tied with Heather Bennett (St Albans) on three wins, losing in the Nottingham tie-break (two-ball breaks starting from corner 4). The Handicap block was won by Jonathan Lambton (Watford) with three wins, one ahead of Geoff Strutt and two others all on two wins.

The GC event on Sunday was managed by Terrey Sparks and consisted of Level play and Handicap play with two blocks of four in each. Unfortunately Les Heard stumbled and twisted his leg, and had to be driven home by his wife who was also down to play. George Collin and Terrey took their places. In the Level play final Nick Archer (Watford) beat David Frost (Enfield). The Handicap event, which included Wrest Park’s Terry Collis, was won by Kim Taylor (Enfield), who beat Roger Stroud (Leighton-Linslade).

The weather was cold and windy with occasional showers. A full report can be found on the EACF website.
