2024 Annual Lunch
The last two CqE member surveys have revealed an upward trend in median age, from 65 in 2007 to 70 in 2017 and 73 in 2022. Given that increasing age tends to be accompanied by a greater reluctance to drive at night (not least because of being continually dazzled by modern LED headlights) it was decided to have an annual lunch instead of the annual dinner. This was a successful move as it resulted in 27 attendees including several younger members who took time off work to be there. Many thanks to Eric Audsley for the organisation and to the Lower Stondon Golf Club, the venue for the past few years. This was the last time the event could be held there as the site is to be developed for housing, so we will be looking for a new venue for next year.

All the trophies. The wooden cup was turned by David Woolley from a section of the walnut tree that grew near the old lawns, and was presented to George Collin for his unstinting work as club groundsman.
