2025 Annual Lunch and prizegiving

This was held on Friday 28 November at Mount Pleasant View, Lower Stondon. Although the Mount Pleasant golf club closed at the end of October, the clubhouse with its bar and restaurant continues to operate and has an excellent view down the fairway from what was presumably the 18th green.

Thanks go to Eric Audsley for organising it all, including the placement cards which reminded us of what we were about to receive, and very nice it was. If we are back next year we might ask for the thermostat to be turned down, as it became warm enough for shirt sleeve order.

Here’s to the ladies (and gentlemen) who lunch.

The lunch was followed by the prizegiving for the various club competitions in which Peter Rothwell proved to be victor ludorum, winning four of them and being runner-up in three others.

This year saw the first Ziggy draw, for which the recipient needs no skill at either AC or GC but simply happens to be the one whose membership number is picked out by a random number program. This year it goes to Richard Taylor. One idea is for the current owner to record his or her favourite structure and photograph it, so that a pictorial archive could be created.
