Membership

Membership rates

Our membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March.
Current membership rates for new members joining are:
Club membership fee of £88.00
plus a Croquet England levy of £17.50 (unless you already pay this via membership of another club)
so if Wrest Park is your primary club, the total membership cost will be £105.50

New members get their second year’s membership for free and we have reduced rates for younger members and students (details on request from the Club Secretary).

We believe our membership rates provide very good value and are quite reasonable in comparison to those of other sporting activity clubs that provide facilities requiring significant upkeep. We aim to keep costs as low as possible and many of our members kindly volunteer to help with routine maintenance tasks rather than the club having to buy in services and labour.

How to become a member

If you are interested in joining the club the first thing to do is contact the Secretary and arrange a visit so that you can try the game for yourself.

All you will need is a pair of flat-soled shoes. The club provides all the equipment, and there are plenty of mallets you can use.

If wet weather is forecast, you will also need waterproof clothing.

Croquet does not stop for rain – unless there is standing water on the lawn!

If you decide to become a member, the Secretary can send you a membership application form (contact details can be found on the Contact Us page) or you can download one using the links below, which will open in a new window:

Word version: download, fill in on screen and return as an email attachment.

PDF version: print, fill in by hand and return either as a scanned email attachment or by post.

The form contains a section relating to the Data Protection Regulations. If you have any questions about this please contact the Secretary.

When you have paid your subscription you will receive a membership card and information on accessing playing equipment, use of the pavilion and so on.

The club has an arrangement with English Heritage which allows club members free entry to Wrest Park house and gardens on production of a club membership card. Note that this concession is not available when EH are staging special events such as the St George’s Day Festival.
