GC B level Tournament 21 May

Report by Richard Keighley

This tournament is one of 18 qualifying events for a national final at Hamptworth in October. Managed by Richard Keighley, it attracted 12 players from seven different clubs, including Bishop Monkton near Ripon.

The players were divided into two all-play-all blocks. In Block A Les Heard (Northampton) won all his games, ahead of John Edwards whose only loss was to Les. Block B was won by Ross Bagni (Leighton-Linslade) with four wins, ahead of David Widdison, also on four wins but having lost to Ross. Les beat Ross 7-5 in the playoff for first place and David beat John in the playoff for 3rd and 4th.

The players were complimentary about the lawns and facilities but especially pleased to have had lunch provided, as GC players are apparently accustomed to bring their own. Thanks to John Bevington for the catering.

Richard Keighley about to play a shot in his game against Louise Taylor on lawn 3.
