Wrest Park

Handicap Tournament 16-17 May

Report by David Woolley

11 players with handicaps ranging from ½ to 20 met on Saturday for Wrest Park’s first tournament of the new season. The new lawns, now in their third year, are getting better all the time, and I would like to thank the mowing team for preparing them so well. Philip Windred was the overall winner with 5/6, closely followed by manager George Collin with 4/5, who also earned a handicap reduction from ½ to 0. Tim and Gill Brewer are to be thanked for the catering, and the weather was dry and breezy. Last to leave was Wrest Park’s new Chairman, David Woolley, whose vintage Morgan refused to start and had to be resuscitated by the AA (a sticking relay was suspected).
