EACF GC Champions Day tournament
24 June

report by Richard Keighley

Wrest Park hosted the Federation’s GC Champions Day for the first time. As Manager, Terrey Sparks had invited each club in the region to enter their GC Handicap and Level Play champions. Sadly, there were no representatives from our own club.

The Level Play tournament was played on an “all play all “ basis  and this produced some exciting games involving Chris Sheen (Colchester), John Noble (Letchworth, and the eventual winner, David Frost (Enfield) who won all his games.

More entries to the Handicap tournament allowed the field to be divided into two blocks followed by semi-finals and a final between Tracy Martin (8) of Letchworth and Paul Homer (4) of Ipswich. Tracy’s form rather deserted her and Paul  was a decisive winner.

EACF Chairman George Collin was on hand to present trophies to both winners before resuming weeding duties.

Handicap winner Paul Homer shakes hands with George Collin as Terrey Sparks announces the result. Level Play winner David Frost stands on George’s right.
